Hi, welcome to Volund, a specialist sheet metal fabrication company for architectural and interior projects.
The Origins of Volund
Volund was born out of a passion for architectural metalwork. We believe that metal is a timeless architectural option, and we are dedicated to raising the standards that architects, specifiers and interior designers can expect from sheet metal fabricators. We’re not just order takers, we’re here to partner, advise and work together to create beautiful, impactful end products.
Volund was born in 2021, as a sister company to the already established Customised Sheet Metal (CSM), based in South Wales.
What made CSM special in its 30 years was its dedication to bespoke and custom fabrication, and a willingness to work with exotic or less commonly used metals. Whereas other fabricators would shy away, convince clients to use a different metal, or walk away, CSM was willing to learn, try and perfect the art of working with a variety of metals including steel, brass, copper, pewter and zinc. Some of these are difficult to fabricate, bend and finish, but we love a challenge more than most!
This unique approach took the company in the direction of architectural metal. From the bar in the film set for Mamma Mia 2, to the iconic venues like Sky Garden in London, CSM started fitting bars, gantries, railings, facades, doorways and other metal pieces for commercial clients. Our list of clients is long and prestigious, though in many cases we’re respectful of the NDA we have in place with various architects, contractors and clients.
As well as commercial clients, the company helped many discerning customers who wanted to elevate their home kitchen, create a bar space or other architectural features.
The launch in 2021
In 2021 the company decided to start dedicating more of a specialist approach to the work with architects, specifiers and interior designers. As well as having a dedicated brand for the work with domestic customers who wanted specialist fittings for kitchens and home bars. This is when Volund was born.
Volund became a member of the Design Forum and is active in the design and architectural industry. Volund also has specialist advisors who can work with you to show the range of options and finishes available, or even just to bounce ideas!
