How to Order

Whether you know exactly what you’re looking for or need some guidance to define your requirements, the expert team at Volund is here to support you every step of the journey. From initial concept to a fully functioning, stunning piece of finished custom metalwork in your home or business - here’s how to order from Volund.

Step one: Initial contact

Ready to get the ball rolling with your bespoke design? Simply fill out our short enquiry form with your contact details and information about what you’re looking for. Please share your desired material, sizings and location. If you can, upload your design plans and drawings – the more detail you’re able to give, the better. Whether you want to order a custom metal bar top, worktop, or something else,  if you need any help defining your brief, our friendly expert team is on hand to help.

Step two: Enquiry follow-up and consultation

We’ll send confirmation that we’ve received your enquiry, and may give you a quick call to follow up and get any additional information required. We’ll then arrange a more in-depth consultation at a time that suits you, where we work together to clarify your requirements, refine your ideas, and ensure your solution will fulfil the fit, functionality and style requirements for your project. At this stage, we can also usually provide a rough cost estimate for the work too.

Step three: Quote and CAD drawing

Our skilled design team will get to work, translating the agreed vision into a detailed CAD drawing. We’ll share this with you alongside a detailed quote. This includes a clear job description, detailing materials, finishes, delivery, and fitting arrangements, as well as an estimated timeline for the work to be completed.

Step four: Decision and confirmation

Over to you! Review the information we’ve shared. If you decide to place your order, we will liaise with you to finalise payment terms, timelines and delivery details, and if necessary, provide updated drawings for approval. We then allocate workshop time and skilled fabricators to your project to ensure it’s given all the technical skill, time, care and attention it deserves.

Step five: Preparation and production

Leave it with us. We source and order your materials and prepare detailed production drawings for manufacture. Then, our technical team gets underway, carefully handcrafting your project from our South Wales workshop. We’re just as invested in your bespoke product as you are and are content with delivering nothing less than the highest quality, right down to the smallest detail.

Step six: Delivery and installation

Once your finished product is completed and has passed our rigorous quality checks, we’ll organise a courier for delivery service to your site. Depending on the nature of the project and your requirements, we can either leave it with you to install or support you in getting the finished piece set up and ready to go.

Step seven: Aftercare

Our commitment to high quality and exceptional customer service extends beyond the delivery of the product. We’ll provide you with aftercare information, including details of any maintenance you need to carry out to preserve the product’s quality and aesthetic to ensure it stands the test of time. We also offer ongoing support post-installation, so you can enjoy peace of mind and ask any questions if and when they arise.

FAQs

While typically our minimum order value is £500, our sister company, Customised Sheet Metal, handles a range of bespoke and niche orders and can usually accommodate smaller projects. Get in touch with us to discuss your requirements and we’ll be able to point you in the right direction.

As your product is designed and made specifically for you, we are not able to accept returns. However, our comprehensive bespoke ordering process ensures that we only ever deliver products to customers’ exact requirements, so a return would never be necessary. We collaborate closely with you to produce the design and communicate throughout the process so you can be confident that the finished product will tick every box.

No, the consultation is part of the process and is at no cost to you. We’ll work closely with you to provide a detailed CAD drawing and quotation for the project. Then you get to decide whether to go ahead. There’s no fee if you decide not to take it forward.

The designs will remain property of Volund if the project does not go ahead, unless you wish to purchase the rights. We can provide a quotation for this if necessary.
